If you had- like I have- followed the scene in respect of Adult Stem Cell (ASC) technology, but mainly with an emphasis on regulatory matters, the name Regenexx and with it, its founder Chris Centeno, had an enormously important impact in its development and therefore has been an important Opinion Leader- and instrumental- in all respects of ASC. His battle against the FDA was a David versus Goliath affair- you do not beat the FDA- not in the US of A. Chris however, accepted the ruling as a good citizen should and organized his business in a perfectly legal fashion. He is a capitalist, not an Albert Schweitzer type, but thats fine - a man with principles which one can trust in addition to his cell therapies.
N.B. In the US, a bone marrow aspiration from a patient and returned to that same patient during the same day is not under the control of the FDA and not regulated. This applies to PRP procedures too.
Regenexx is therefor allowed to treat patients in the US with its procedures (and all the license takers of the technology) but performs its more complicated procedures which require more bone marrow cells (i.e. require culturing) at its licenced facility on Grand Cayman. Centeno works there as a surgeon a few times per year- by coincidence- today a blog article appeared which describes the situation nicely....
