There are apparently two presentations. So, here's the second (or first?) abstract.

I still see this as a limited app in the burn world.
DOV sees a $30 million market in 2020
Where I personally see this helping is those hard to heal areas that often require multiple surgeries and even then don't always heal.
I guess we will see what 2020 brings.

I don't know how big a market this potentially is. I believe that the ability to reduce the need for multiple surgeries to treat serious burns is surely valuable. I would have thought that faster treatment/rehabilitation of wounds would lead to substantially lower cost of treatment. This is something that should not have to take 5 years to reach to market. I also believe that it warrants a premium price.......I have no doubt that burn patients would see it this way.

A well designed, reasonably sized stage II trial may well be sufficient to get some sort of accelerated approval, provided of course that the results warrant it.........maybe wishful thinking on my part. The US government will surely be looking at this from more than the perspective of a mass nuclear event. Burn wounds are common battlefield traumas.

Whoa. These are abstracts from last year's presentation of treatment with ADRCs in an animal model. Your heading suggests that these are what will be presented next week. Please clarify. Thanks

I just checked the website again. It's this year's website of the conference. It seems they've not changed the header for the abstracts.

I can't be too sure though. If you wish to check for yourself, here's the link: www.abstractsonline.com/plan/AuthorIndex.aspx?letters=TE

Follow the Tenenhaus-links. Good luck.

Cytori Presents Thermal Burn Data at the 2015 American Burn Association Meeting

03/23/2015

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Cytori Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:CYTX) will present data from two preclinical studies describing safety and efficacy of ADRCs for treatment of thermal burn injuries at the Annual Meeting of the American Burn Association (ABA) in Chicago on April 21-24, 2015. This research, funded by the contract with the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) of the Department of Health and Human Services, was part of the package of data submitted to the US Government as part of the In-Process Review meeting that led to the execution of the current contract option valued at $14.1 million, and part of Cytori’s $106 million BARDA contract framework.

The first presentation will describe the use of Cytori Cell Therapy in combination with a widely used skin substitute in a full thickness burn injury model. Data to be presented show increased wound vascularity and maturation in wounds treated with Cytori Cell Therapy. The second presentation will describe a novel model of full thickness thermal burn injury with concomitant radiation exposure. Data to be presented demonstrate that delivery of Cytori Cell Therapy accelerates wound re-epithelialization in this context. These data will form the basis of an Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) package to be submitted to FDA for a proposed clinical trial using Cytori Cell Therapy in thermal burn injury.

“These are encouraging data that support the advancement of Cytori Cell Therapy to accelerate wound healing in severe burn patients,” said Dr. Tenenhaus, a plastic surgeon from UCSD Burn Center who specializes in reconstructive surgery for burns and other traumatic injuries. Dr. Marc Hedrick , President and CEO of Cytori commented: “We remain focused on continuing execution of key deliverables under our BARDA contract and believe that, when coupled with ongoing research and development activities, the data to be presented at ABA will support an FDA IDE approval and unlocking of the next BARDA milestone, which includes $8.3 million in clinical trial funding. We look forward to their full publication in the scientific literature in the near future.”

The treatment of thermal burns remains a critical underserved medical need. Despite standard of care primarily consisting of dressings, skin grafts and skin substitutes, patients frequently suffer from pain, scarring, skin contracture and reduced range of motion. Autologous cell therapies such as those offered by Cytori have the potential to improve the quality and rate of wound healing and reduce scarring.

According to the American Burn Association, there were approximately 450,000 burn injuries in 2013 that required medical treatment in the United States, with approximately 40,000 requiring hospitalization. In a mass casualty event, the Government Accountability Office reports that as many as 10,000 patients could require thermal burn care. The limited number of specialist surgeons and burn centers in the U.S. creates a public health need for a burn wound therapy that can be quickly and broadly applied by non-specialist medical personnel following such an event

Just that we are all up-to-date on the comments and issues around burn/radiation and the Chicago presentations:

Rongside originally found the abstracts 6 weeks ago and we first discussed it here:

The microwaved porc thread

than some info on the biomaterials used in the animal study:

Wound Healing and the matrix used

than the whole confusion by a new study initiated by Cytori on eschar tissue, which should have been completed ages ago....

Board moderator and Site-owner. I still regret the day I started analysing the prospects of MacroPore (now Cytori) back in 2004- a left-over from the tech-bubble at that time from the century change in my portfolio- and became addicted to Cytori´s fat cell technology.

Now is as good as time as ever to discuss our expectations. Clearly 10 X's our wildest dreams is never going to happen with Cytori. I think all of us have recovered from our drunken optimistic states and should be stoned cold sober after years of disappointments and failures. No point rehashing we know the facts. Each conference call we walk away with a glimmer of hope as now Hedrick tells of what may be. Will it ever be ?
Why is this team ready to finally monetize this technology that we are all in agreement we believe is the future. Is it the future really? Is there another companies technology that will ultimately win out due to all the wasted time. Has Cytori just been a trail blazer in the field making it easier for other companies to efficiently follow that trail to the promised land both medically and financially? These are the questions that keep me up at night wondering will I just be able to break even on this investment within the next 12 months ? Surely all of you whose names are familiar to me on this board have taken a financial bath that you never expected. Reading the comments on the burn presentation in this thread
I feel the doubt that BARDA will be the Holy Grail we thought it would be propelling this company to financial and medical credibility. My expectations are lower then ever and have been reduced to prayer to just break even and recoup my substantial losses. What do you think? What are your expectations ? What are your wildest dreams and is there really a chance other then hope and prayer that they will be realized?

Roth, I think the market in the last few weeks agrees with your attitude, ie, Lorem and Orphan drug status having no effect on pps. When I first invested N cytx 8-10 years ago, I figured it would take off and one analyst gave it a $50 target in 5 years. So many things have changed since then, eg, Okyanos and others around the world using Cytori technology, Gov't contracts, that I'm hopeful the science alone will eventually literally drag the company (despite management) into a viable and true value pps. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. GLTA
