Nothing new we don't know about. Interesting that such an experienced doctor is looking into treating back pain originating from spinal disk problems using BM stem cells. Simple MRI discloses the condition and I assume would show correction if it was rehydrated after treatment. This indication looks like a natural for ADRC. We have trials for bone regeneration in Basel............ anyone know about disc/spine treatment using Celution?

Prime candidate for partnership deal? .......... possibly on geographic basis (Japan).

Can't let Mesoblast monopolize this.

Whenever I read spinal disk or bone related subjects with ADRCs, I am thinking Amsterdam, Vrije Universiteit and Marco Helder. Marco is now also IFATS president and chairman, so an influential person using Celution in his research and work designing one-step surgical procedures using fat cells.

Just check Pubmed and query "Helder, Marco" - you get 42 results if you do- PubMed

On MesoBlast- Chris Centeno was very critical on the published results from the MesoBlast spinal disk study- I think that is NOT the egg of Columbus so to speak.

On Celution and our procedures "potential"- I am 90% convinced that the "tissue ischemia" broad claim on Celution finally paved the way for bone related clinics with ADRCs in Europe. I think ROBUST was "waiting" for the regulatory OK, just as a few others including a periodontal clinic in Amsterdam. As Calhoun explained to me- cartilage and bone issues are largely caused by ischemic issues.

I think that also means that a spinal disk clinic would be the next logical step and yes- I do think that would be interesting for many "specialists" in the field- Medtronic, Zimmer and the likes.

Time will tell.

Board moderator and Site-owner. I still regret the day I started analysing the prospects of MacroPore (now Cytori) back in 2004- a left-over from the tech-bubble at that time from the century change in my portfolio- and became addicted to Cytori´s fat cell technology.

Fas

Didnt Leeza have some comments on this a while back where she thought the bone marrow source would be better for this type of indication ?
Of course...things can change very quickly.

Do not remember Hedge. I do read Centeno a lot (like everything :yep: ) and with fresh cells without stimulus that is certainly the case, which I have also indicated on this page- Platform Overview

Things change if you use osteoconductive material as a matrix or add a growth factor and like I wrote In Amsterdam this science and knowledge is pretty advanced there.

So then we would be talking a drug approval route then...at least in the USA .

Would you agree ?

Oh yes- absolutely.

This would only make sense with a partner at present. The same applied 4-5 years ago, when I asked the gang, why they are not pursuing spinal disk. Simply do not have the money to develop the app.

The pre-clinical stuff on dogs was pretty impressive. See attachment,
